Customizing Your Agent

Make Crew yours by customizing its name, personality, communication style, and how it knows you.

Agent Profile

Go to Settings to customize your agent.

Agent Name

Give your AI assistant a custom name:

Default: "AI Assistant" Examples: "Jarvis", "Luna", "Alex", "Miso"

Agent Emoji

Choose an emoji that represents your agent's personality. This appears next to the agent's messages.

Personality Description

Write a free-text description of how you want your agent to behave:

"You're a friendly but professional assistant. You use humor occasionally but stay focused on getting things done. You're proactive about suggesting improvements."

Tone

Choose from preset tone options:

Tone

"Three meetings today. Your calendar is looking busier than a coffee shop on Monday morning."

Tsundere

Style

Emoji Party

Generous use of emojis throughout responses

Clean Text

No emojis, minimal formatting, clean and professional

Structured

Heavy use of headers, lists, and organized sections

Conversational

Casual, flowing text like chatting with a friend

Personality Traits

Add custom traits that define your agent's character:

  • "Always suggests healthy alternatives when discussing food"

  • "Includes motivational quotes at the end of morning briefings"

  • "Uses technical language when discussing coding topics"

  • "Keeps responses under 3 paragraphs unless asked for more detail"

Adding Traits

In Settings, find the Traits section and add your custom traits one by one.

Changing Personality During Chat

You can also adjust personality through conversation:

"From now on, be more concise in your responses."

"I'd like you to use a more formal tone."

"Add more humor to your personality."

"Be more proactive about suggesting next steps."

Crew will update its personality settings automatically. These changes persist across conversations.

Your Information

Help Crew personalize responses by telling it about you:

Profile Fields

  • Name: How Crew should address you

  • Occupation: Your role or job title

  • Company: Where you work

  • Interests: Topics you're interested in

  • Location: Your city/country (used for weather, directions, timezone)

Setting Up

Go to Settings and fill in the "My Information" section, or just tell Crew:

"My name is Alex, I'm a product manager at TechCorp in San Francisco. I'm interested in AI, design, and photography."

Crew remembers this and uses it to personalize responses, weather queries, location suggestions, and more.

Custom Instructions

For specific behavioral rules, use the custom instructions field:

"Always respond in bullet points. Never use more than 5 bullet points per response."

"When I ask about food, always consider that I'm vegetarian."

"If I ask you to write code, use TypeScript by default."

Tips

  • Experiment freely: You can always reset personality settings in Settings → Agent Memory

  • Be specific about tone: Instead of "be funny," try "use dry humor and occasional puns"

  • Combine settings: A "Professor" tone with "Structured" style creates detailed, organized responses

  • Test on messengers: Personality applies across all channels — test how it feels on your messenger of choice
