Memory & Context

Crew has a powerful memory system that persists across conversations. It remembers your preferences, important details, and context — so you don't have to repeat yourself.

How Memory Works

Crew maintains two types of memory:

Manual Memory

When you tell Crew to remember something, it stores that information and recalls it in every future conversation.

Automatic Memory

Crew learns from your conversations automatically. As you chat, it identifies important facts, preferences, and context — and stores them for future reference. You don't need to explicitly say "remember this" for everything.

Conversation Continuity

Even in long conversations, Crew maintains context so it doesn't lose track of what you've discussed. You can have extended back-and-forth discussions without worrying about the AI forgetting earlier parts of the conversation.

Cross-Conversation Memory

Crew carries important information across conversations. If you mention your role, preferences, or key facts in one conversation, Crew can recall them in future conversations — even days or weeks later. This makes your experience more personalized over time.

What Crew Remembers

  • Personal preferences ("I prefer window seats," "I'm vegetarian")

  • Work context ("I'm leading the Q4 product launch")

  • Important people ("My manager is Sarah, my client contact is John at Acme Corp")

  • Recurring information ("My weekly standup is every Monday at 9 AM")

  • Custom instructions ("Always use metric units")

Telling Crew to Remember

Just ask naturally:

"Remember that I prefer dark mode in all apps."

"Remember that my team consists of Sarah (design), John (engineering), and Lisa (marketing)."

"Remember that my budget for the project is $50,000."

"Keep in mind that I'm allergic to shellfish."

Asking What Crew Remembers

"What do you remember about me?"

"What do you know about my team?"

"What preferences do you have stored?"

Forgetting Information

"Forget what you know about my previous project."

"Remove the note about my old address."

"Clear everything you remember about Company X."

Crew doesn't just store memories as a flat list — it understands the meaning behind them. When you ask a question, Crew searches your memories by relevance, not just keywords. This means:

  • If you stored "I'm allergic to shellfish" and later ask "suggest a restaurant," Crew finds the allergy memory even though you didn't mention it

  • Related memories surface automatically based on the context of your conversation

  • The more memories you build up, the more personalized your experience becomes

Memory in Practice

Continuity Across Conversations

Conversation 1:

"Remember that I'm preparing for a product launch on March 15."

Conversation 2 (days later):

"How should I prepare for the launch?" Crew already knows about the March 15 launch without you mentioning it again.

Personalized Responses

If Crew remembers you're in San Francisco:

"What's the weather?" → Shows San Francisco weather automatically

If Crew remembers your dietary preference:

"Suggest a restaurant" → Filters for vegetarian options

Cross-Channel Memory

Memory works across all channels. Tell Crew something on Telegram, and it remembers on the web, Slack, WhatsApp — everywhere.

Importing Memories from Other AI Services

Already built up a history with ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini? You can import those memories into Crew so you don't have to start from scratch.

How to Import

  1. Go to Settings → Agent Memory

  2. Click Import Memories

  3. Choose your source service (ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini)

  4. Follow the step-by-step guide:

    • Open the other AI service

    • Copy the provided prompt and paste it into the other service

    • The other AI will list everything it remembers about you

    • Copy that output and paste it back into Crew

  5. Crew automatically parses and imports the relevant memories

What Gets Imported

  • Personal facts and preferences

  • Work context and project information

  • Important contacts and relationships

  • Custom instructions and habits

Duplicate memories are automatically detected and skipped, so you can import safely without worrying about creating duplicates.

Managing Memory

Settings Page

Go to Settings → Agent Memory to manage memory:

  • View Memories: See all stored memories with their sources

  • Edit Memories: Add, modify, or delete individual memory items

  • Import Memories: Bring in memories from other AI services

  • Reset Memory: Clear all stored memory and start fresh

Memory Limits

Each account can store up to 200 memories. Crew automatically manages this limit by prioritizing the most relevant and recent information.

Memory vs. Conversation Context

It's important to understand the difference:

Tips

  • Be explicit: Say "Remember this" when you want something stored long-term

  • Review periodically: Check Settings → Agent Memory to clean up outdated information

  • Use for workflows: "Remember that all reports should use the company template with sections for Summary, Details, and Action Items"

  • Import early: If you're switching from another AI service, import memories right away so Crew can personalize from day one

  • Combine with personality: Memory + personality traits create a deeply personalized assistant
