Desktop App
Use Crew on your computer — not just in the browser. The desktop app gives you local file access and a system-wide Quick Prompt.
Desktop App

Mac (Apple Silicon)
Windows
After downloading, open the installer and follow the steps. The Mac app is code-signed and notarized by Apple, so you won't see any security warnings. On Windows, the installer is digitally signed and includes automatic updates.
What You Get
The desktop app wraps Crew in a native window with features the browser can't offer:
Local file access — Crew can read, write, and manage files on your computer. Grant folder access and Crew works with your local documents directly.
Quick Prompt — A floating prompt window you can summon anytime with a keyboard shortcut, even when Crew isn't in focus. Ask a quick question, send a file, or start a task without switching windows.
File downloads — Save files Crew creates (documents, images, exports) directly to your computer.
Upload local files — Attach files from your computer when composing emails or chatting, or move local files to your Crew cloud storage.
Audit log — See what Crew has done with your local files in a dedicated log viewer.
System tray — Crew lives in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows) for quick access.
Auto-updates — The app updates itself in the background. You'll see a notification when a new version is ready.
Setting Up Local File Access
Open the desktop app
Crew will ask for permission to access a folder on your computer
Pick a folder (or use the default)
Crew can now read and create files in that folder
You can change or revoke folder access anytime in the app settings.
Quick Prompt
Quick Prompt is a lightweight input window that appears over your other apps.
Open it with a keyboard shortcut (configurable in the tray menu)
Type a question or drag a file into it
Press Enter and Crew responds — or opens the full app if the answer needs more space
Great for quick calculations, lookups, file conversions, or starting a longer conversation.
Multi-Device Management
Using Crew on multiple devices? You can see all your connected sessions in Settings > Devices.
View active sessions — See which devices are signed in (desktop, web)
Sign out remotely — Remove a device you no longer use
Your conversations, files, and settings sync automatically across all devices.
Tips
Try Quick Prompt first — For quick questions, it's faster than opening the full app.
Grant folder access — The desktop app is most useful when it can work with your local files. Start with one folder and expand later.
Keep it running — Leave the desktop app in your system tray so Quick Prompt is always available.
