# Understanding Usage & Limits

Crew measures your usage by **daily conversations**, not credits. Each plan includes a set number of conversations per day, and Crew automatically picks the right AI model for each message — you never have to manage a credit balance.

## How Usage Works

Every message you send starts one **conversation turn**. For each turn, Crew automatically selects the best AI model based on how complex your request is — you don't choose the model yourself.

Your plan includes a **daily conversation limit**. The count resets every day at **00:00 UTC**.

## Daily Conversation Limits

| Plan | Price | Daily Conversations |
| --------- | ------ | ------------------- |
| **Free** | $0 | 15 / day |
| **Basic** | $20/mo | 60 / day |
| **Plus** | $49/mo | 180 / day |
| **Pro** | $99/mo | 500 / day |

## AI Models (Automatic)

Crew routes each message to the right model automatically — you don't need to choose:

* **Flash** — fast and efficient, for simple tasks (quick questions, short translations)
* **Core** — the smart, reliable default for everyday tasks (email summaries, calendar, general questions)
* **Insight** — deep and analytical, for complex work (detailed analysis, coding, long documents, creative writing)
* **Prime** — the most capable model, for the most demanding tasks

How model access works by plan: Free and Basic use Flash/Core/Insight with a limited number of **Prime** uses per month; **Plus** always answers with Insight for consistently high quality; **Pro** enables **Prime** automatically for complex tasks. For the exact monthly Prime allowance per plan, see [crew.you/pricing](https://crew.you/pricing).

## What Happens When You Reach Your Daily Limit

When you reach your daily conversation limit, chat **pauses until the next reset at 00:00 UTC**. There is no separate "lite" or degraded mode — when your limit resets, full quality resumes automatically.

To keep going right away, you can **upgrade your plan** for a higher daily limit.

## Other Plan Limits

Beyond daily conversations, each plan includes its own quotas for these features:

| Feature | Free | Basic | Plus | Pro |
| --------------------------------- | ---- | ----- | --------- | --------- |
| **Messenger connections** | 1 | 3 | 5 | Unlimited |
| **Scheduled tasks** | 3 | 10 | 30 | Unlimited |
| **Documents / month** | 10 | 100 | 500 | Unlimited |
| **Marketplace tools** | 1 | 5 | 15 | Unlimited |
| **External tools (MCP · Skills)** | 7 | 20 | 50 | Unlimited |
| **Market lookups / day** | 50 | 200 | 500 | Unlimited |
| **My Files storage** | 1 GB | 10 GB | 50 GB | 200 GB |
| **Active Missions** | — | — | 5 | Unlimited |
| **Daily mail drafts** | 3 | 20 | Unlimited | Unlimited |

## Autopilot & Missions

Autonomous **Missions** (available on Plus and Pro) work on their own across hours or days. They run from a **separate prepaid balance** measured in real currency — not from your daily conversation limit — so a long-running mission never eats into your everyday chat. You can top up and track this balance in **Settings → Billing**.

## Tracking Your Usage

Ask Crew directly — "how many conversations do I have left today?" or "what plan am I on?" — and it will answer from your live account. You can also open **Settings → Billing** to see your current plan, remaining daily conversations, and this month's feature usage (documents, image generation, and other premium tools).

## Tips to Make the Most of Your Plan

* **Be concise**: shorter, focused messages get faster, cleaner answers
* **Be specific**: "Find emails from Sarah about the budget" beats "check all my emails"
* **Bundle details up front**: include everything relevant in your first message instead of many follow-ups
* **Set sensible schedules**: each scheduled-task run counts toward your daily activity, so choose appropriate intervals
* **Upgrade when you hit the ceiling often**: if you regularly reach your daily limit, a higher plan gives you more room and (on Pro) automatic Prime
