# What are Insights?

Insights is Crew's smart notification system. Instead of waiting for you to ask, Crew monitors your email, calendar, and contacts in the background and sends you helpful updates automatically.

Think of it as a personal assistant who reads the room and speaks up when something important needs your attention — before you even ask.

## The Insights Page

All your insights live in one place — the **Insights** page. Open it from the sidebar or press **I** on your keyboard.

Here you can:

* **Browse your insights** in a feed, with the newest at the top
* **Filter by status** — New, Read, or Dismissed
* **Filter by module** — Show only Morning Briefings, Meeting Preps, etc.
* **Tap any insight** to read the full content
* **Dismiss** insights you no longer need

New insights have a colored dot. Tapping one automatically marks it as read.

Below the feed, you'll find the **module cards** where you can turn each feature on or off and adjust its settings.

## Available Modules

Insights currently offers 5 modules:

| Module | What it does | When it runs |
| ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| [Morning Briefing](/insights/daily-modules.md#morning-briefing) | Summarizes your day — meetings, important emails, things to remember | Every morning at your chosen time |
| [Meeting Prep](/insights/event-modules.md#meeting-prep) | In-depth research on the people and companies in today's meetings | Every morning (synced with your briefing time) |
| [Pre-Meeting Reminder](/insights/event-modules.md#pre-meeting-reminder) | Quick heads-up with key points right before each meeting | Before each meeting (configurable lead time) |
| [Commitment Tracker](/insights/daily-modules.md#commitment-tracker) | Finds promises you made (and ones made to you) and checks if they were kept | Every evening at your chosen time |
| [VIP Alert](/insights/event-modules.md#vip-alert) | Alerts you when your boss, a key client, or someone important emails you | Checks every 1–6 hours |

## How It Works

1. **Turn on the modules you want** on the Insights page
2. **Crew runs in the background**, checking your email, calendar, and contacts on a schedule
3. **When something relevant is found**, an insight appears in your feed — and optionally on your favorite messenger

No prompts needed. It's fully automatic.

## Setting Up

1. Open **Insights** from the sidebar (or press **I**)
2. Scroll down to the module cards
3. Tap a card to turn it on
4. Pick your preferred time or frequency
5. Choose a delivery channel (Web, Telegram, Slack, etc.)

That's it — Crew takes care of the rest.

### What You Can Customize

* **Schedule**: Set when each module runs (morning briefing time, meeting prep lead time, etc.)
* **Delivery Channel**: Choose where insights are delivered — Web, Telegram, Slack, Discord, or LINE
* **Turn on/off**: Tap any module card to enable or disable it

## Requirements

All modules require a **Google** or **Microsoft 365** account with email and calendar access. Connect your account in **Settings > Service Connections** before enabling Insights.

## Delivery Channels

Insights can be delivered wherever you prefer:

* **Web** — Shows up in your Insights feed (always)
* **Telegram** — Sent as a direct message
* **Slack** — Sent as a DM
* **Discord** — Sent via DM
* **LINE** — Sent via the Crew LINE bot
* **KakaoTalk** — Sent via KakaoTalk channel

> **Tip**: Insights are most useful when delivered to a messenger you check often. Telegram and Slack work great.

## Tips

* **Start with Morning Briefing** — it's the easiest way to see the value of Insights. One briefing each morning, and you'll start your day already organized.
* **Tune the timing** — Morning Briefing at 7 AM? Meeting Prep 2 hours in advance? Adjust the schedule to match your routine.
* **Use messenger delivery** — Reading insights in Telegram or Slack is faster than opening the web app every time.
* **Check Commitment Tracker in the evening** — Set it to run at the end of your workday so you can follow up on anything before heading home.
